A few weeks ago, I sent out my latest blog referring to an email I’d written to a new business prospect on behalf of one of our clients.
The blog made reference to the email sent, and the fact that I’d mentioned my Granny in a light-hearted way and as a result, I got a new business meeting, you can read that story here.
The email I sent, did exactly what I set out to achieve, I created a killer subject line so the email would be opened, made it relevant and engaging to the person it was sent to, got them to smile and gave them a reason to reply. Result, a virtual meeting was set up, and my client is on their way to pitch for some new business. Success, right
Well, sadly not for someone who received the story about Granny and felt compelled to email me saying that they found my comments offensive and that I was mocking Granny, and that I should grow up. Grow up! I nearly spat my lucky charms out that I was eating for breakfast.
Being in the creative industry that we are, I’m only too aware how subjective creative can be, whether that’s an email we send for new business, some killer DM campaign we send to prospects or some ramblings we post online, you can’t appeal to everyone, and nor should you.
But what we do here, we love, and we love to work with clients that love what we do.
So, if you’re struggling to find your voice and stand out from the crowd and you want to be in front of the type of clients you want to work with, that don’t kill the fun, then drop us a line.
